1. Overview
Screen Shot is designed with privacy in mind. Most editing and export work happens entirely on your device. We do not require you to create an account, and we do not upload your personal photo library for editing or export.
2. Information We Collect
We collect limited information necessary to operate the App. The types of data depend on how you use the App:
| Category | Examples | Source |
|---|---|---|
| User content (on-device) | Photos you select, template edits, exported images | Your device; processed locally |
| Template & app content | Template metadata, device frame assets, app configuration | Downloaded from our servers or CDN when you browse templates |
| Purchase information | Subscription status, transaction records | Apple App Store (we do not receive your full payment card details) |
| Feedback you submit | Issue type, title, description, optional contact info you provide | Submitted voluntarily via Profile → Feedback |
| Device & usage data | Device model, OS version, app version, crash logs (if enabled) | Collected automatically to maintain stability and fix bugs |
App Store Privacy Label — Data Collected
As disclosed on the App Store product page, the App may collect the following six data types. This data is collected for App Functionality and is not linked to your identity:
| Data Type | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Purchase history | To verify membership subscription status, restore purchases, and provide membership benefits |
| Photos or videos | To support core features such as screenshot framing, template editing, and export |
| Other diagnostic data | To investigate crashes and performance issues and improve stability |
| Device ID | To identify devices and ensure normal service operation |
| User ID | To distinguish user accounts and sync membership status |
| Other usage data | To understand feature usage and optimize the product experience |
We do not knowingly collect sensitive categories of personal data such as health information, precise location, or contacts through the App.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information described above to:
- Provide core features, including template editing, live preview, and HD export;
- Deliver template library content and app updates;
- Verify membership status and restore purchases through Apple;
- Respond to feedback and support requests you submit;
- Improve product performance, fix bugs, and enhance user experience;
- Comply with applicable laws and enforce our Terms of Service.
App Store Data Types — Purposes of Use
All six data types disclosed on the App Store are collected and used solely for App Functionality — that is, to launch and operate the App's core features, including screenshot editing, membership verification, crash diagnostics, and experience optimization:
- Purchase history — verify subscription status, restore purchases, and deliver membership benefits;
- Photos or videos — enable screenshot framing, template editing, and export on your device;
- Other diagnostic data — diagnose crashes and performance issues to improve stability;
- Device ID — identify devices and maintain reliable service delivery;
- User ID — distinguish accounts and sync membership status across sessions;
- Other usage data — understand how features are used and optimize the product experience.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your photo library content for advertising or profiling.
4. Local Processing
When you select images from your photo library, edit templates, or export screenshots, that processing occurs on your device. Exported images are saved directly to your photo library when you confirm export.
Template metadata (such as layout definitions and frame assets) may be fetched from our backend so you can browse and apply templates. That content is separate from your personal photos and is not used to access your private library.
If you save custom templates locally ("My Templates"), those designs remain on your device unless you choose to share or export them.
5. Device Permissions
The App may request the following iOS permissions only when needed:
Photo Library (Read)
Required to select screenshots, backgrounds, and other images for editing. Access is requested when you tap upload or image selection controls.
Photo Library (Write / Add Photos)
Required to save exported template images to your photo library. Access is requested when you confirm an export.
You can revoke permissions at any time in iOS Settings → Screen Shot → Photos. Some features will not work without the relevant permission — for example, export requires write access, and image selection requires read access.
6. Third-Party Services
We rely on the following third parties to operate the App:
- Apple App Store — processes in-app purchases and subscriptions. Apple's privacy practices are governed by Apple's own policies.
- Content delivery — template assets and app resources may be served via CDN or cloud infrastructure to improve load times.
These providers may process limited technical data (such as IP address and request logs) as part of delivering their services. We require that they handle data only as needed to support the App.
7. Data Retention & Security
On-device content (edits, exports, saved templates) remains on your device until you delete it or uninstall the App.
Feedback submissions and server-side logs are retained only as long as necessary to respond to your request, maintain the service, or meet legal obligations, then deleted or anonymized where feasible.
We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information we handle. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Your Rights & Choices
Depending on your location, you may have rights regarding your personal information, including the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict certain processing.
You can take the following actions directly:
- Revoke photo library permissions in iOS Settings;
- Delete exported images or local templates from your device;
- Manage or cancel subscriptions in iOS Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions;
- Contact us via Profile → Feedback to ask about data we hold or to request deletion of feedback you submitted.
We will respond to valid requests within a reasonable timeframe and as required by applicable law.
9. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it.
10. International Users
Screen Shot may be used in multiple countries. If you access the App from outside your home country, your information may be processed in jurisdictions where our service providers operate. We take steps to ensure appropriate safeguards when data is transferred across borders, consistent with applicable law.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through in-app notice or by updating this page with a new "Last updated" date. Continued use of the App after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
We encourage you to review this page periodically to stay informed about how we protect your information.
